This collaboration not only celebrated the artistic achievements of the talented students but also created the winner’s design into a tangible, custom-crafted coin to be kept for years.
The winning 2020 challenge coin was made in both 2 and 3 inch sizes with rope edging. One side is a colorful, adorable design of two manatees floating in the water. The other side is in gold plating, stating their foundation name with the quote, “there are no other Everglades in the world”. With the same backing and edging as the 2020 coin, the 2021 coin’s front side is a colorful, vibrant, and detailed drawing of a Florida panther peering through the weeds of the Everglades.
They were presented to the students and staff at the schools of the original designers, creating an effect of recognition and inspiration within the local educational community. Each recipient held a physical representation of the appreciation and recognition their artist(s) had received, fostering a sense of pride and accomplishment. Also highlighting the power of challenge coins as meaningful medallions of recognition.
